In the wake of the bush fires ravaging Australia, ARNA has made our second business donation since our inception in April 2019.

We have chosen to donate to Seed Mob, Australia's first, youth lead, Indigenous climate network. Seed have been working alongside the Australian Youth Climate Council for many years campaigning and lobbying the government, Adani, fracking in the NT and many many more issues affecting country and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people.

I have had the absolute privilege and honour of working alongside Amelia Telford while campaigning and working at LUSH. Amelia is a powerhouse, to say the least!

Amelia is a young Aboriginal and South Sea Islander woman from Bundjalung country and is the National Director of the Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network. Amelia is passionate about supporting a national grassroots network of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to protect our land, culture and communities from the impacts of climate change and fossil fuel extraction and be a part of creating positive change for our people.

We felt that supporting a women lead and Aboriginal lead network was right for us in the devastating situation we find ourselves in. We know that with over 80,000 years of living on this land that our First Nation's people could have prevented this catastrophe from happening. Ancient methods of back burning and controlled burns as well as just plain better care, connection and understanding of the country itself. We cannot turn away the idea that hangs in front of us, that colonisation is part of why we are where we are right now.

ARNA Stop Fracking in the NT with Seed Mob

The Seed Mob vision is so powerful:

That’s why we launched Seed: Australia’s first Indigenous youth led climate network. We are building a movement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people for climate justice with the Australian Youth Climate Coalition. Our vision is for a just and sustainable future with strong cultures and communities, powered by renewable energy.

Here's just some of the amazing focuses that Seed Mob has been working on:

Let's stand together to protect country:

Sign the petition here.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have lived sustainably off this land since time immemorial. We have strong songlines across this country that connect us to each other, to our culture and to the land.

Sign the petition and add your voice to support the growing movement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people standing up to protect our land, culture and communities from fossil fuel extraction and global warming.

We are calling on Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to rule out any Federal Government investment, subsidies or royalty-free periods for any new coal or gas projects.

We are the caretakers, protection of country is at the very core of our culture and connection to the land and sea. It is the teaching of the Dreaming.

Stop Fracking in the NT

Are you an Origin Energy customer? Pledge to swap your energy company to stop fracking in the NT.

Shale gas fracking is a disaster for:

  • Water - The NT is connected by one water table. When that water is polluted by the dangerous fracking process, all of our water is poisoned.
  • Country - Our deserts, springs, plains, and bushland are too precious to risk with dangerous fracking wells. It’ll poison groundwater, pollute the air, destroy sacred sites, and change our seasons.
  • Health - Fracking poisons water and land, and emits toxic fumes into the air. States across the world have banned fracking because it makes people sick.

Make a donation to Seed Mob in support of their amazing work for Climate Justice.
