AN INTERVIEW WITH YASAMEEN RAISSINIA - HEAD OF SMB SALES AT DEPUTY
Yasameen Raissinia is an absolute powerhouse, a colleague and a friend. Arianne worked with her during her time at LinkedIn where they became work partners in crime. Yas, now leads the SMB sales team for Deputy, a unicorn in online rostering software for hospitality and retail.
Why did you start your business or take the role that you're in now?
I moved into this role in 2019 to help drive the scaling and rapid growth targets for Deputy in the APAC region. I lead a team of 14 sales professionals who are helping change lives for small business owners to become more productive and successful.
What inspires you and gets you out of bed in the mornings?
The people in my life - my team, my friends and family, and my loving and motivating boyfriend.
What's been the best lesson you've learned in business or your career and why?
One of the best lessons I have learned is no job is too big for you, if you put your mind to it. At 23 I had a mentor who told me by 30 you should be managing a team and driving a business strategically forward. My first goal was to just make the jump into sales as an Account Executive, but I realised then and there I should always be thinking about my career in 5 year increments. I needed to start building the skills to become a sales leader in my first sales role, and not just hope and pray I would gain those skills by moving into that future role.
What does the future look like for you?
I would love to lead a global sales organisation someday, and take several start ups public, starting with the start up I am working in right now!
What's one piece of advice you'd give other women in business or in their careers?
Self doubt is your biggest enemy. Believe in yourself and push the bar higher and you will always come out ahead.
