AN INTERVIEW WITH SAMANTHA PAYNE FROM THE PINK ELEPHANTS SUPPORT NETWORK
Why did you start your business or take the role that you're in now?
4 years ago I experienced my second miscarriage i was heartbroken but offered no emotional support. I felt isolated and alone in my grief, I couldn't find the support or connections to others who had been through early pregnancy loss. Thankfully I met Gabbi via a mutual connection we had a coffee and together we decided more was needed and The Pink Elephants was born.
What inspires you and gets you out of bed in the mornings?
Every day 283 women in Australia lose their babies to miscarriage, I'm privileged to be leading the change that is needed ensuring that every woman and her partner have access to the support they deserve and need. I'm super lucky that my kids get me out of bed every morning!!
What's been the best lesson you've learned in business or your career and why?
Keep going, do something or many things everyday and they accumulate, there is no overnight success or magic wand it's hard work, drive and determination that creates success.
What does the future look like for you?
I'm really excited about the next phase of Pink Elephants growth and my personal growth alongside. This year I'm proud to be a Westpac Social ChangeMaker I'll be taking part in amazing leadership courses here and overseas. I love learning and can't wait to see what magic I can create for Pink Elephants from this incredible experience.
What is your boldest move to date?
Starting!!! Standing up and sharing my personal journey of pregnancy loss.
