AN INTERVIEW WITH LUCY BINGLE FROM - LUCY BINGLE LINKEDIN MARKETING
by Arianne Ritz
Lucy Bingle has 20 years marketing experience and is a LinkedIn Marketing Expert. She is passionate about helping companies succeed in amplifying their brand, reaching their target audience and growing their business.
Why did you start your business or take the role that you're in now?
I am passionate about marketing and helping grow successful brands. I identified early a new way to market that hadn't been widely adopted. The opportunity was to use the LinkedIn platform as an effective sales and marketing channel. If brands and individuals are given the right tools and techniques they can develop a robust strategy that connects them with their target market and helps create commercial opportunities.
What inspires you and gets you out of bed in the mornings?
Firstly, my two beautiful daughters. I know the best role model I can be is a positive and empowered woman. If I can bounce out of bed and demonstrate to them every day that life is full of opportunity and wonder, then I am doing my job well. I am also inspired by my clients. I seriously love working with lots of different businesses. We are lucky, we help brands of all sizes and across all industries - it is inspiring and super interesting and motivates me to wake up and get going.
What's been the best lesson you've learned in business or your career and why?
The best lesson I have learnt over my 25 year career is that you (me) are your biggest obstacle. If you have an idea or you know you could do something better, don't wait to be asked, don't wait to be instructed - you will be waiting a long time. Back yourself and go for it. What is the worst possible outcome? You don't succeed in that role or that business doesn't fly? That's OK, get up and dust yourself off. Best case scenario? Your business idea takes off or you thrive in your new role. Well that is a great outcome and one you should be very proud of. Women can often limit themselves in their working life due to fear. Face your fear it really is what helps you grow.
What does the future look like for you?
The future looks bright. www.lucybingle.com is growing rapidly and I continue to surround myself with super smart people who deliver great work for our clients. Not only is the team smart but they are fun and we have shared values so working is a joy. LinkedIn marketing is now recognised as a business-critical channel and we are now recognised as the leaders in this space, which is awesome. Our clients are meeting their objectives and kicking goals, they can see the value of our services and how we have helped them reach their targets. We have stayed in our lane, remained niche and this has worked well for us. We can confidently look after our SMEs and large corporate clients, providing LinkedIn masterclasses, Linked strategies and thought leadership management. I am extremely excited about the future as I can see a clear pathway to success.
What's one piece of advice you'd give other women in business or in their careers?
Be true to yourself. We work for a long time so it is important that you have a job that you enjoy. I also think it is important to check in with other professional women, hear their stories and challenges. This is a great way to connect, seek out advice and find opportunity. The more the sisterhood works together the more we will make change in the world and workplace, whether that be career progression, pay parity or equal opportunity.
